Distorted sound

The sound from my PC is speeded up as if on helium. It's
intermittent and not related to anything. It's all sound,
not just music.

Hi Sue,

Try updating the drivers for your soundcard/soundchip, from either
a) the Microsoft Windows Update site
b) the soundcard manufacturers' website, or
c) the motherboard manufacturers' site (if the motherboard has onboard
audio).
