dissapearing messages

In using Vista windows mail i noticed after reading some messages in my inbox
when i closed them they dissappeared. They are not in the inbox, deleted.
sent. or any folder.

Any ideas as to why this happen?

Click on the Inbox, then View, then Current View, then Show All Messages.
Do they now appear?
