Windows XP dissapearing cursor in remote desktop connection

When running a remote desktop connection to a server on our network, the mouse cursor keeps dissapearing. I then have to either alt+tab or minimize-maximise several times until the cursor appears again. This happens when running in a window or full screen. I am connecting to a Windows 2000 Server machine, from my XP workstation.

Has anyone ever encountered this problem? If so, how can I get around it? It is so annoying....
