Display tab in display properties not working

every time i his display in display properties i get an
error message and then the peroperties close.. why is
this doing it... how can i fix it? says something about
rundll32.exe not working..

Note, if you don't like Rich's generalized answer, you might consider that
you haven't provided much information. "Says something about rundll32.exe
not working"? How can somebody help you if you expect them to guess at
the actual error message and don't provide any other details either?

Do you have XP Home or Pro? When did the problem start? What video card
do you have?

A few details will get you a much more appropriate response that might
actually help you resolve the problem.

Otherwise, it's like taking your car to a mechanic and saying just "It
makes a noise, so fix it."
