Display Resolution problems.. HUGE ICONS!

The resolution "slide bar" won't move!

In other words, we can't increase the resolution and it says it's on the
"default monitor" settings.

This started yesterday when after switching the computer off it restarted
and said that we needed to re-install windows. So I re-installed it and
everything was there, all my files and programs and so on, just that the
resolution had gone weird.

So pretty much we can't change the resolution and we have these gigantic
icons. We have a ViewSonic screen and we use XP Home.

We're not sure if it's to do with the computer itself or the screen... Since
everything was still on the computer after re-installing Windows we assumed
that Viewsonic didn't need to be re-installed but just to be safe I tried
earlier today and it wouldn't do it.

Currently the display is on 800x600 pixels and we want it to be 1280x1024
pixels.

If anyone could offer advice I would be so grateful! Thanks for taking the
time to read this, Isabella.

Reinstalling the drivers for your graphics card should solve the problem.
