Susan

I reformatted the hard drive on my HP 8560C and updated
Windows 98 to Windows XR. Installation wnet well, but
when XP restarted the computer I heard a loud noise and
the mages on my monitor becams heavily-lined. Audio was
fine, and video worked well with everything else, but I
was not able to do anything, having to manually shut down
the computer. i reformatted the hard drive - agan - and
reinstalled Windows 98 without doing the XP upgrade. I'd
like to find out if I just got e piece of bum software, or
if there is an answer obvious to someone else but not to
me about why I had such a problem with the video display.
Thanks.

Did you run the XP Upgrade Advisor before installation to see if there were
any compatibility issues? More than likely you will need XP drivers for all
your devices, especially the sound and video cards.
