Display problem

In some applications what should be £(english currency pound) symbol is displayed as "J"
I have set everything I can find to "English - United Kingdom" but have so far failed to fix
Only noticed it recently
Can anyone suggest a fix please

have you tried regional and language settings in the control panel??
