display in browser

i recently reinstalled winxp and set everything up to the best of my
knowledge.in my browser it seems the margins wont automatically "condense"
and i have to scroll side to side when i never had to before.it also cuts the
text off in certain message boards.i have all the latest updates too and have
cheaced all the settings i can think of..............HELP!!
