display icon

I want to insert an object (Excel file) as an icon in the body of my email.
However, the "display icon" option is dimmed, thus I cannot choose it as an
option. Can someone tell me how to make that an option?
 
Shq, I have Outlook 2003, use Word as my e-mail editor, and HTML as my
format. In this environment, if I want to insert a file and display it as an
icon I have to switch to rich text format. If that's your situation then
that might be your solution.
