my friend has an old 17ghz machine with XP home. After reinstalling the OS a
few drivers had yellow question marks including the video adaptor driver. I
clicked to search for this on the web and it came back with nothing. Where do
I go for this driver. The monitor is stuck at 16bit and can't change screen
size

Go to the monitor manufacturer (or computer manufacturer if an OEM machine)
website and download an updated driver.

I haven't seen a 17 ghz machine yet.

You need to delete these drivers with the yellow question marks and reboot
your computer. The computer will then find your new hardware and offer to
install the drivers. If the drivers are for music/graphic and you are using
integrated graphics/sound the drivers will be on your motherboard CD. If you
are using a separate video card and sound card, you should have the new
drivers ready to install when you purchased them
