My display is dim all the time. Whether it is on AC power or plugged in.

Whether on AC power or plugged in. Okay, I'll bite. What is it besides
AC when you plug it in? It actually has an AC generator when not
plugged in? So what powers the generator? Nuclear power cell? Bicycle
pedals and generator?

Maybe you should look at the power settings for what UNNAMED laptop or
desktop you happen to have.
