disparity of file transfer rates

I have two computers, one running window 98 (A), another running
XP (B). The file transfer rate of A->B is much faster than B->A.
For example, copying a file from A->B would take 8 minutes but the
same file from B->A would take 240 minutes.

What gives?

Try:

On the XP machine Start/Run regedit ENTER

Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Remote
Computer\NameSpace\
