Dismissing a reminder

When my reminders pop up and I complete them I click on Dismiss and they
leave the reminder list that has popped up leaving only those that I still
have to do in the list. When I go to my task list, they are still listed
there as if they are still to be done. Why don't they leave the list or why
don't they become marked as completed since I have dismissed them. Why is it
a two step process to get rid of them once I have completed them. Is there a
set up that I have missed somewhere that I can tell it to mark it as
completed when I click Dismiss.

Seems a bit ridiculous that this has to be done in a two step process, why
bother with the dismiss when it leaves it in the task list so there has to be
something that I am missing.

Any help any one can give is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Cyndi

Dismissing a reminder does not mark an item complete. On the other hand,
marking an item as complete does dismiss the reminder on it. Right-click on
the item in the reminders window and select Mark Complete. That will take
care of both actions at once.

I am currently running Outlook 2002 and when I right click on any of the
items in the pop up reminder list window it only gives me the option to open
and nothing else.

Then you will have to do both actions. Or you can ignore the item in the
reminders window, go to the tasks folder and mark it complete there.

The solution I provided is for Outlook 2003 and 2007. Since you did not list
your version I provided a solution for the latest versions of Outlook.

Something seems odd here. I thought that the unified Reminder window sisn't
appear until Outlook 2003; that Outlook 2002 still popped up a separate
window for each reminder.

No, the unified reminders window was introduced in Outlook 2002.
