Dismiss doesn't dismiss

i'm running into the following problem with 3 of my users.

our environment is XP or 2000 with Office2000 sp3 with all windows update patches applied.

I often set "alarms" in my outlook. When they pop up, I have 2 options:
Dismiss or Snooze.

When I click on dismiss, the alarm goes away for the moment but is not
"dismissed -- it often reappears a short time later.

This isn't a cataclysmic problem, but if you can suggest ways that I can
correct it, I'd appreciate it.
