I installed this utility and it's completely taken over the Windows XP
defrag. Is this 3rd party software better than the built-in defrag utility
or should I uninstall it?

When you unninstall it you will get your windows built in defrag back. So
don't worry about it. And I am using Diskkeeper10 and i think it is much much
better than that.

Yes Diskeeper disables the built in defrag. Diskeeper is at version 10
now, btw.

Every person to his own opinion. That said, I cannot understand
how an application with different algorithms can be useful when
Windows XP optimizes when idle. i.e. Diskeeper moves files to
another place, then XP moves them to another when idle. I just
think that someone has their hand in your pocket.
