Disk Read Error

I have a HP A330N, here is my setup
C: XPHome (HP Pavilion partiton)
D: XP Corp (Partion I setup)
I: HP Recovery partition
when i reboot i get an Disk Read error, using partition magic 8 to reduce
HP's recovery Partition some 20 gigs and then merge the remaining unallocated
with C:

I've run recovery console on D: and tried "Fixboot, fixmbr, chkdsk /R,
bootcfg......etc...etc....
any idea's

The hp recovery partition is reserved space on the disk only
for recovery,why mess with it.Changing,or formatting that area
renders it useless,hence,no recovery files to use.If more space is
what youre after,purchase another hd.
