Disk not accepted on re-install

Pc is slow so I figured I would format and re-install XP seems i bought the
upgrade unfortunately. Now I booted from dvd/cd-rom with the windows XP home
cd. Got all the way to cd verification and when scanned xp setup said please
insert wondows product and hit enter. The cd is in, it is a purchased real
cd, I cleaned it, Talked nice to it ........ even gave a little peck on the
cheek to let it know that i understood and respected it......... still cant
get passed this phase of setup ....... any ideas?

Hi,

If it's an upgrade disk, then it is looking for a CD from a qualifying
product. For WinXP Home, this would be a CD from Win95, Win98/98SE, or
WinME.
