My hard drive has been partitioned. I went through the steps and deleted the
partiton but I can't figure out how to reallocate the disk space back to my
c: drive. Help?

Thanks

Sorry, you can't do it from within XP. Your only options are, format the
disk and re-partition, or use a third party software application like
Partition Magic to move the partition.

Using the stock XP tools, unless you also *delete and recreate* the C
partition, you can't do this.

You *may* be able to do this with a 3rd party tool such as Partition Magic,
but the Microsoft tools do not support changing partition size.

You can only specify partition size at time of creation with the stock
tools.

You cannot "delete and recreate" the partition that the OS is installed to
from within Windows.

True. You must do it from a boot external to that hard disk, i.e from the
XP CD and during a setup. Yes, it is completely destructive to the current
installation and data on that drive.

BootNG trial version did not contain any install, help, readme or anything
about Partitioning.
It wants to create a fllopy or a CD with out any explaination of why and
what.
The site only has PDF files to download for tutorials that do not contain
partitioning but boot installs. PDF reader version 6 is a hugh program that
may not be on all computers.

And BootNG requires it's own partiton.

This is NOT a easy to use tool for a beginer or causal user.

And it is priced way to high. I would think $14.95 would be about top price.

A PDF reader is an essential tool for any computer user and it is a free
download and included with many applications for people without broadband
connections. The PDF manual is very extensive. The learniung curve is higher
than PM or similar, but not very difficult.

BootIT NG can be run completely from the floppy, it does not need to be
installed to the hard drive.

I think it is quite a bargin for what you get, and you never have to pay for
upgrades. You can continue to use it for free if you don't mind the startup
procedure.

BING does have a rather steep learning curve for most beginners,
however, the tech support is excellent and the program is a bargain
for $35.00. If you think it's priced too high, what would you expect
to pay for the following?

HDD Imaging software
non destructive partitioning software
Boot Manager and much more

Also, BING fits on a bootable floppy or can be installed to ANY
partition, not just its own.

Almost every new machine has Adobe Acrobat version 5 or 6
pre-installed. Hugh program? Bull, you don't know what huge is if
you think Adobe Acrobat is huge.

Just a point of emphasis; if you are not using it as a boot manager (and
most people will not) do *not* install. Just boot its floppy and cancel
Install, this enters Maintenance where you can click Partition Work to
proceed. Most operations involve highlighting a partition and clicking
the appropriate Action. For a Copy or Image that then needs also a
highlight on the Destination and paste - a familiar enough method for
most people

It would be expensive to get and pay up just for a single operation
maybe; but still a lot cheaper than Partition Magic

But for *any* Partition manager you do need some prior knowledge of what
partitions are about
