reallocating partitioned drive space using xp sp2

i need to reduce/reallocate space from a partitioned drive "d" to original
drive "c"

How does one do this with the least amount of problems?

Is it possible to completely remove the partitioned drive and reallocate its
resources to the "c" drive withour reformatting the entire computer?

I am new at this so please be kind

Thanks,

You will need a third party utility like Partition Magic, Acronis Disk
Director
or BootIt Next Gen which has a free trial.

BootIt: http://www.bootitng.com/
Acronis:
http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/diskdirector/partitioning.html
Partition Magic:
http://www.powerquest.com/home_homeoffice/products/overview.jsp?pcid=sp&pvid=pm80

As always backup any important data files (documents, photos, music, etc.),
before using such a tool as there is always a small chance that something
can go wrong.

Better still create an image backup you entire C: and D partitions to an
external drive
or a second internal drive. You can use Acronis True Image to do this.

First, don't post your phone number.

You cannot use any tools provided with XP to do this, at any time other than
when you create the original partition. XP has no facility for changing the
size of an existing primary partition, so you can't merge. You can only
delete and recreate.

You can use 3rd party tools, and these can work well, but it's an extremely
good idea to back up the drive first.
