From your description, it appears that Diskeeper - the full blown version
NOT the "lite" version that is built-in to Win2k - might be configured to
perform a boot time defrag on your system. If there is a problem with
Diskeeper, then you need to contact Executive Software - the maker of
Diskeeper. They can be reached at

Windows 2000 has a built in disk defragmenter which is a light version of
diskeeper called Windows Disk Defragmenter . On the other hand to get
Diskeeper you'll need to buy it.
