I just defraged my harddrive - took about 10-15mins and its only 74GB and 50% full

do ppl still defrag and how long does it take you?

how long would a full 500GB 7200rpm harddrive take ?

are you lot using diff programs than the standard windows defrager ?

I run mine (standard MS one) every week or two, takes 10-15 mins usually.

Using the Win XP Defrag tool, I'd imagine a mildly defragmented 500Gb drive would take about an hour to complete, maybe longer.

Obviously, the more defragmented your hard drive becomes, the longer it will take. Speed of your hardware is also an influencing factor.

diskeeper sounds good, but im not paying for something i only use twice a year
