Disk defrag messed up my system

I ran disk defragmenter and now all my programs say thet
there is a fatal error or the disk is not in the drive
etc. I tried system restore but it doesn't undo modified
hard drive data. If anyone has any suggestions on how to
restore my cpu then post, p.s i am looking for ways that
do NOT include reformatting the system.

You could try to run a checkdisk and when you do check
both boxes in the options
