My PC is running XP Home booting from an IDE drive. I have just fitted
a SATA2 drive and have the following question --

If I clone the IDE drive to the SATA drive and change the boot order
from IDE to SATA will it work as the SATA drive is not drive C.
Alternatively can anyone suggest how I could do it? I want to keep the
original IDE drive in the PC.

TIA

cheers,
Len

Clone the drive, disconnect ide drive, reboot.
Once ok, shutdown, reconnect ide drive, having set bios boot order to sata.
It may work, however........
NB you should read your mobo manual for the specific instructions re using a
sata as the boot drive - it can vary and may involve both Bios settings,
mobo jumper, raid settings and/or using F6 during a win repair to install
sata/raid drivers from floppy.
