disk cleanup

I'm running XP pro. I'm used to running disk cleanup to
remove files but XP is different. There is a compressed
old files option. If I click this and delete the files
am I actually deleting files or am I deleting a general
compressed file and no files are actually deleted? I'm
not real clear on this. thanks

That option is only offering to compress files that "IT" thinks are old or
seldom used, it does not remove snything. If you are not pressed for disk
space . I suggest that you uncheck this box. I have read that the XP
compression can cause problems when you want access those files later. I
don't know about that, it's just something one of the MVP's said to another
poster.
