disk Cleanup

When i select disk cleanup it will start, then it will
use all the available CPU power without ever
responding.Then it will not respond at all.In fact i have
to C+A+D to stop it(after waiting approx 30 mins). Why
does it do this?, and is there any way for it to function
normally again?

Line 48, Right column "Disk Cleanup - Compress..."
Save on Desktop.
Double click the icon once downloaded.
The icon can then be discarded.
