Disk Cleanup

I had my Windows 98 upgraded to Windows 2000 (by
someone). My Disk Cleanup function doesn't seem to work
any longer. I'll click on it it starts up and says
Calculating - "scanning: Compress old files", about 4
little blocks will appear then it stops. I've left it on
for hours and it's never gotten past those 4 little
blocks. The Defrag works ok, but I liked to use the Disk
Clean up on a daily basis. Never have this problem with
Windows 98, or on my XP. Any ideas of how to check it
out? Thank you for your time.

Hi ,
Try this, your pc seems to be badly defragmented and the
best way I know how to sort this out is this:
1-boot up in safe mode and disable screen savers
2-Run Scandisk and under advanced options, click on
thoriugh and automatically fix options
3- Reboot agian in safe mode..disable screen savers
4-click on defrag and then just leave alone, go out for
the day or something like that, it will put your files in
a better order
5-Reboot and everything should be ok
6-Dont use the clean up fuction everyday, its getting
confused with the temp registry files and its getting
confused because of the constant day changes
