Disk Cleanup problem

I use XP (Home Ed) Disk Cleanup regulary. One of the items I have checked to
perform is to delete Web Client/Publisher Temporary Files. These are never
deleted, however. After each use of Disk Cleanup, there are still over 5MB of
these files listed. Is there a way to make Disk Cleanup delete these files or
a way for me to manually delete these? I haven't found where they are located.

Gregg, Once you have run disk cleanup, restart your machine and run disk
cleanup again, then let me know if they are still there ?

Hi Gregg,

Ok, I have done a little research for you and I believe the files that are
creating your 5mb are the index.dat files, I'm not sure if this will work but
I have read this on another forum, give it a go :

Press F8 on boot up.

Choose "Safe mode with command prompt".
Log in as "Administrator".

At the prompt type "cd\" without the quotes and hit enter.

Type "del index.dat /s" without the quotes and press enter. Note the space
before /s.

Once the process is complete type "shutdown -r" without the quotes and press
enter to reboot. Note the space before -r.

That deletes all index.dat files. Fresh files will be recreated when you
boot into Windows.

Once your system has rebooted Gregg, let me know the file size on the Web
Client/Publisher Temporary Files, it should be 32kb !

Kind Regards

Andy W
