In Windows XP Home Edition, Disk Cleanup hangs up while attemptiing to compress old files. I have read Knowledge Base articles 812248, 812930, and 823302, which describe three different procedures for addressig this. How are these three related? More importantly, is there an order in which these three procedures should be attempted?

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and
answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by right
clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
