Disk Cleanup - compress old files

T

Tony Penaherrera

When using Disk Cleanup utility, I have 141,000 kb (mb) of compress old
files. It has a check on the box to indicate of removing them. However, it
doesn't remove them because I launched the utility again to verify the
status of my removal. Yet, the 141,000 still show.

Is there a way of removing them since the utility failed to removed them?
Where do Windows keep these "compress old files?"

Any reply would be greatly appreciated.

Compress Old Files does not remove them from your system, it uses NTFS compression to make them smaller, so they don't waste any more space than necessary. The files are still in their original locations.

Also, notice that the total displayed (Total amount of disk space you'll gain) is for everything that's listed and has a number larger than 0.
