disk clean up stalls after start up.

Today when I went to run disk clean up it sounds as of
its running but it stalls, and nothing happens. I'm able
to close it and continue but it seams as if the system is
running slow,any ideas?

When you run the Disk Cleanup utility, the program may stop responding
(hang) while scanning for compressed files.

Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
Locate and then click the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Volume
Caches\Compress Old Files

On the Edit menu, click Delete.
When prompted to "Confirm Key Delete," click Yes.
Quit Registry Editor.
