disk clean up freeze

my disk clean up began freezing up so i dump my hard
drive & reinstall xp.all is well.30-45 days later it
happens again all i have on the system are xp & xp
office. no other programs. restore does not solve the
problem. when i run it on my other hard drive ( which is
empty ) it appear to work. when it does not respond after
10-30 minutes i cancel.the system is dragging so i ctrl-
alt-delete & 99% cpu usage is designated for cleanmgr.
after i reboot all is well again as long as i do not try
to use disk clean. so w.t.f. i am lost.please help
