I am trying to get my desktop to start up and I keep getting a disk boot
failure error before then it shows a DMI pool data then boot from cd then
says disk boot failure ,insert system disk and press enter. My question is
how do i obtain a system disk? and what is causing this problems.

Thanks Phil

A system disk is one which has an operating system on it.
You create one when you install an operating system such as XP.
You insert the XP CD into your CD drive, set the BIOS to boot the CD first,
and proceed with the installation.

However, this message seems to indicate that there is a problem with the
disk other than not having an operating system to find.

One possibility is that the master boot record is bad.

Hi Jim sounds like a damaged disk. Put your XP disk in and try a re install,
you may need a new drive so check its under warranty first
