Disk boot failure with anything attached to SATA

Rob

I have an Asus A7pro and recently added a Silicon Image 3112 PCI-SATA card.
If I have my DVD writer (Plextor 712) connected when I boot the PC I just
get a "disk boot failure". All the OS etc. is on PATA drives, I am not
trying to boot from SATA.

If I boot without the DVD writer connected and then plug it in afterwards,
it works ok. It's just a real pain to have to do this every time I reboot.

I have the latest bios for both the mb and pci card (from SI and Asus).

Any help appreciated,

Rob.

Go into the bios and check your boot order. Make sure you're not set
to boot from an add-on device or something similar.

Doesn't seem to be anything. There is an option for SCSI but it's disabled.
The only enabled device is the HDD (and I tried all the HDDs one by one). If
I enable the floppy, that boots ok, even with the SATA drive connected.

I've also done some testing on the memory and disks and everything seems ok.

I tried installing the most up to date bios from Silicon Image but no
difference. Also tried a couple of different versions of the bios for the
motherboard.
