Disk Activity Light

R

Rodney

I recently upgraded from XP Pro to Vista Business.

Apart from the system taking 5 minutes to boot and then a further 30
minutes until it is fast enough to be useful, the Disk Activity Light
for my system disk never goes off.

Can anyone suggest what the problem may be , please?

Can you give us your system specs so we know what your working with?
(Motherboard, cpu, hard drives, memory?)

For the first day or two while you are not using your computer it is
probably indexing your HD to make it faster when you use the search feature.
If you don't have much memory then it is probably also using the page file
quite a bit....

If you are telling us that your machine takes 35 minutes to fully boot then
you most likely have a failed installation.

Please tell us your specs and let us know how much memory your system claims
to have available during this slow boot process as well as how much free
drive space you have.

Turn the indexing service off.
