does anyone know where i can get a list of all the countries in the world, i
am trying to populate a table and would like to do this without having to
manually sit there with an atlas and type them all in............... lazy i
know but what are databases for if not storing info

this is a bit of a cheeky question but any url's or info gladly recieved

i have no idea if it's *all* the countries in the world, but it's a pretty
good-sized list.

The ISO have free HTML, Text, and XML downloads here ...

They have MDBs, too, but they're not free.

Thanks Brendan. VERY helpful.

Note that it's very easy to import an XML file into Access2003.
Haven't tried with earlier versions, but even the text file can be
imported with a little fiddling.

for future ref i have found 2 files that may help if you have realplayer of
nortons installed there are 2 files that when opened in notepad will (with a
little formatting) list most if not all countries they are

country_list.js
&
COUNTRY.DAT

hope this helps someone else...
