Hello,
The ISP controls the connection. Some ISP's may run a timed disconnect
program, see #3.
I did the following and it helps.
1. Check all telephone lines and connections, clean and tighten them. I used
a eraser to remove dirt from the wire connections.
2. If there is static on the line the phone company may help without
charging for the service. The phone company supplies voice not data transfer,
unless you are paying for DSL, T1 etc.
3. I use Outlook Express to stay on line.
Open OE and go to "tools/options" - send and receive messages, check the
box "check for new messages" set time for "ten minutes" then click OK.
When you go on line Outlook Express must run all the time, set it up
"minimized" in the task bar.
4. I have a poor connection, the ISP supports 56k, the best I can receive is
28.8k.
take care.
