Disconnect problems

I'm having very similar problems to the one someone else
wrote about earlier:
"i have a user running xp..that keeps losing her home
drive on the server...when she logs in she connects but
after a while she loses connection to the home drive and
gets access denied..anybody know what is up with this..."

My customer has two XP Pro machines in peer-to-peer. When
the remote one is running her accounting software, she
will after a while get disconnected from the host machine
and we have to go back in and establish the mapped drive.

I have ensured that all the power settings are turned off
on the machines and wonder if we have a hub or nic card
problem? Any ideas? Thanks!

I'm having similar problems with XP (Pro), just within the last few weeks. I have several network based applications that assume an "always-on" connection to my machine and they are now dropping every 5-10 minutes. It seems pretty clear to me that one of the most recent patches from Microsoft (I'm 100% up to date) hosed some things up. In addition to this problem, I have lost all ability to use my XP Pro-based machine on my home LAN (which consists of XP Home-based machines, and which all work GREAT). I now have no file sharing, no print sharing, and no ability to even ping the Pro machine.

And don't tell me I have my firewall activitated, because I don't....

Hopefully, MS will fix this screw-up in the SP2 update...otherwise, this time, I really will switch to Apple!
