disc drives not working

hi all . turned my computer on this morning to find that when ever i try to
load from a disc . it just keeps coming up , windows cannot read from disc ,
disc may be corrupt or not a windows format disc . only just started doing it
.. anybody got any suggestions. help greatly appreciated . does it on both
disc drives .

Have you tried that CD in another system? CDs have a 'spin-life' and are
subject to the environments they occupy. I left a cheapo burnt CD in my
CDRW-DVD combo drive overnight and it practically curled on the edges,
making it useless (even as a coaster.) It was the heat you understand.
Seriously, I'd try the disc in another PC. If that fails, try another one.
Still failed? It's the CD.
Another approach is try different CDs that work in other systems. If it
fails on your sick system, chances are your drives are bad. Good luck
