Disappearing Mouse Cursor

I run Windows XP Home Edition on a Dell Dimension 4550
2.4gHz 256 ram and use a microsoft intellimouse optical
mouse with scrollwheel. After I put my computer to sleep
or have it hibernate, I wake it up and the mouse cursor
is invisible. It works fine as far as interacting with
the other programs, but I cannot see it on the screen, no
matter if I'm logged in or out of an account. I have
restarted, unplugged it, reinstalled the drivers and
software, etc. Anything I can do? Thanks for you time.

Is the mouse plugged into a USB port? If so, try using the adapter for the
mouse port and see if this solves the problem.
