Disappearing hard disc

Can anyone please help me with my vanished d (back-up) drive? When I
formatted and reinstalled XP Home Ed. The back upp D drive was recognised by
the bios and by system/hardwae/device manager. But I cannot find it or its
contents listed in "my computer".
All my back up files ae in there somewhere. What did I do wrong when loading
XP again? Is it something to do with partitions?

Click on Start | Run and enter diskmgmt.msc Do you see the hard disk
there? Does it have a drive letter assigned to it? What does it say
about the disk in question?

Many thanks John. It is there, so what do I do next, please?
 
Do you by any chance have TweakUI installed on you computer? Check to
see if the drive has been hidden with the utility.
