Disappearing cursor in Word and Outlook - PLEASE Help!

H

Harry

I am experiencing some very frustrating problems when using Word and/or
Windows Mail.
When I tap the Caps Lock button the cursor disappears, which means that I
have to click again for it to reappear and to allow me to actually type. The
same thing happens when I switch from Caps to normal, the cursor disappears
and I can't type until I click again. It is particularly frustrating as I am
a writer and I could really do without the delays. The laptop is only 6
months old and I spent a small fortune with Dell trying to sort it out, which
didn't work.
As it only occurs with Word and Mail I can only assume that it is a windows
problem. As I am typing this out it works just fine.
Please help!

Sounds like options in the mouse settings, 'Hide cursor whilst I type' and
'Press control key to find cursor'. But it isn't working correctly and/or
conflicting with something.

If this is a Synaptic Touchpad, then there are THOUSANDS of settings for the
device - good luck finding the right one. You may be better off disabling
all the Touchpad options and starting from square one.

I'd also disconnect from the Internet and disable AntiVirus to see if that
is stealing the focus. Somewhere, some setting is in conflict.

Sounds like a display driver or display hardware issue to me, but if the
manufacturer cannot understand it who can?
