My OS is XP. When I boot, there is no AUTOEXEC.NT in the System32 folder or
elsewhere. I use expand to restore this from the setup CD and it remains in
the system whatever applications I run. It is still there just before I shut
down. When I reboot, it has gone again. This happens even if I use MSCONFIG
to prevent all startup and services from running when I boot. Where else
should I look to find what is deleting AUTOEXEC.NT? Apart from Windows
Update, I have not installed or downloaded any applications recently.
