Disabling Windows mail

I am trying to install new virus protection and a message pops up saying it
cannot be installed with Windows Mail running. Can you please tell me how to
turn Windows Mail off so I can install my new protection?

Like any Windows program, you close the program by clicking on
the X in the upper right corner.

The Winmail.exe process may still be running. See here on how to stop it:

Do a CTRL-SHIFT-ESC and find the process and right click on it and choose
