I am using a scanner with a XP-SP2 workstation. Problem with this scanner
(Ricoh IS420) is that the manufacturer has not developed any XP drivers with
this. One of our programmers wrote a scanner driver for this and we need to
disable Windows from recognizing this scanner at startup and loading it's
own .inf driver. I'm sure someone here in the NG can help me out on this.
Thanks in advance.

You can disable this only by disabling the Plug and Play service,
which may have unwanted side-effects. I would try to get a driver for
this scanner that works wth Windows XP.

Thanks for the suggestion. This problem exists because I cannot get an XP
drive for this scanner. I will try to disable the Plug and Play service.

Renaming SP2.cab folder to SP2.cabold will stop SP2 drivers fro
loading.
You can then update the drivers in device manager/hardware.
