Disabling the Banner Page in Windows XP

As much as I don't care to work with XP, I'm compelled to
determine why there is no easy means of disabling the banner page for
print jobs spooled to my network printer connected to my Netware
server from an XP computer. There is no information in the least in
the Windows Help file, and I can find no option for disabling the
printer banner page from any relevant "properties" dialogue boxes, or
from within the XP registry. I'm using Microsoft's Netware client
software as Novell's latest client software is inclined to not
communicate with my Netware server from XP as it stands now. Is there
anyone who can guide me in the right direction here, and why is it
that from a OS that pretends to be the ultimate user-friendly OS, it
is so difficult to solve such a simple problem? As far as I'm
concerned XP insulates the user from the system to a fault. TIA for
any help anyone can afford.

The setting for printing banner pages (or not) is in the printer's
properties sheets (Printers and Fax). If the printer has an additional
"tool box" provided by the manufacturer, there may be similar settings
there.

This is the case on my other workstations with previous
versions of Windows, though, the only feature that I can find in the
printer dialogue box in XP is for the selection of a distinct or
personalized separator page. There is no option to de-select the
disabling of the separator page, and the separator page edit box is
blank. I still have the banner or separator page with every print
job, however.

Thanks,
Hector

I would suggest that you contact the manufacturer of the printer.

That's certainly the option, though I believe the Novell
Netware client software modifies the printer dialgue boxes to allow
for the selection or de-selection of the enabling of the banner page.
I may be wrong, of course, however, my experience in the past has been
that the option has become available after installation of the client
software. In this case, with Windows XP, the MS Netware client
software doesn't seem to provide this option. There may be a new
structure within XP of which I'm not aware that provides a means for
disabling the banner page. If I could coax the Novell Netware client
software to recognize my server after installation on the XP
workstation, this issue could be moot. However, it doesn't appear to
be easily persuaded.

Thanks,
Hector
