Hello,
What is the easiest way to disable, NOT delete, start-up programs? Also, how
can I see their dependencies?

Spybot has a utility for that, under "Tools", "System Startup". Has anyone
here tried it?

Thank you so much.

WinXp also has msconfig.exe
The apps that startup may have an option to stop them starting

Autoruns from http://www.sysinternals.com is basically msconfig on steroids,
gives a lot more info.

Dependency Walker form Microsoft can help with identifying the relationship
between executables and DLLs, etc.

Yes, the Spybot one works well (as does msconfig). However, Spybot gives
some good info on what the items are about. I would suggest using it.
