Disabling Outlook Express as default EMAIL client

I prefer to use another EMAIL program, but no matter what I do,I cannot stop
OE from launching when I tap on a mailto link.

I've tried Control Panel-> Add/Remove programs -> Program Defaults ->
Deselect OE,

I've tried deleting the files in the program directory (XP restores them)

Anyone know how to do this?

IE-Tools-Internet Options-Programs tab.
Set your other email program there.

If your preferred email application doesn't appear there, then post
details or alter it in File Types

Windows Explorer-Tools-Folder Options-File Types
Find the file type URL:MailTo Protocol
Click Advanced and edit the open action.
