Disabling LAN Connection icon in taskbar

Anyone know how to get rid of the Local Area Connection icon on the task bar?
I have a laptop with WiFi, so I rarely connect using an ethernet cable. I
tried disabling the "Show icon in notification area when connected" option,
but it's still in the tray.

1]You can hide the icon by right-clicking the taskbar, click on
Customize, then find the local area connection in the list, click on it
and under behavior, click on "Always hide"
or,
2]If you don't use it then you can also Right click on My Network
Places, Properties, right click on Local Area Connection and select Disable.
