Hi,

is it possible to disable the Word grammar/spellcheck function for certain
users? Could I e.g. password-protect the activation of the function? Or make
it dependent on the user policy?

Cheers,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Normally I'd say something like that could not be done, but you may find a
clue in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=257643. By excluding certain
users' access to the registry keys listed in that article, you might be able
to disable spelling and grammar checking for them.

I suspect, though, that it would work only if you're using Word 97, and that
Word 2000 or later doesn't follow the same rule.

You can actually modify the NORMAL.DOT to not Spell and Grammar check all the
default styles. You can additionally remove the Spelling and Grammar menu.

This works quite well.
