Disable "unplugged cable" popups?

Steve Samson

Any suggestions for disabling the annoying and spurious
popups telling me that a network cable is unplugged? This
also goes for the equally annoying popups saying the network
is now connected. This is a direct Cat 5 connection to my
router and there are no gremlins behind the box.

I'd still like to keep the connection icon in the tray, but
if that's the answer I can do without it.

Hi Steve,

If you are referring the Balloon tip, they can be removed in TweakUI.

Install Tweakui and go to Task and Start menu, then uncheck Enable
balloon tips.

If you are OK with turning them off GLOBALLY, across ALL
applications, which is what will happen if you use this method.

Just a FYI.
Install Tweakui and go to Task and Start menu, then uncheck Enable

You might want to try the following. Open up Network Connections
and right click on the connection that's bugging you. Uncheck the
box that says "Notify me when this connection has limited or no
connectivity".
